B – Banoffee Pie

March 13, 2008

This extremely sugary/sweet dessert is made with bananas, graham crackers, whipped cream, and condensed milk.  Leisel or grandmother made it in Texas one time when we were down there on vacation.

I tried making this last year without a recipe and didn’t do very well.  The condensed milk didn’t thicken enough.  I may try it soon and use dulce de leche instead of all of the boiling/preparation.

A – Asparagus

March 13, 2008

Asparagus seems to be on sale in Marquette.  So, I tried a new way to cook it rather than steam it.

Roasted Asparagus
Olive oil
Salt
Pepper
Asparagus

Wash the asparagus.  Snap off the ends of the spears like you are breaking a twig.  The spear will snap down toward the bottom and remove the woody part.  Place the asparagus in a small baking pan and lightly coat with olive oil.  Sprinkle with salt and pepper.  Toss the asparagus around in the pan until it is all well-coated.  Bake for 15 at 400 degrees or however hot the rest of your dinner is cooking.
